It’s been gone for almost six months but Singaporeans with a thirst for Gong Cha will be happy to know that the big boy of bubble tea is back in town – and it’s bringing with it new flavours too.
The brand, which made the announcement via a Facebook post on Tuesday (Nov 28) evening, will reopen for business at noon on Friday (Dec 1) at its SingPost Centre flagship store in Paya Lebar.
Gong Cha is a Taiwanese brand which was introduced to Singapore by RTG Holdings in 2009. It became the largest bubble tea chain here with 80 outlets islandwide.
In June this year, all of Gong Cha’s outlets closed and it was replaced by homegrown brand Liho, helmed by entrepreneur Rodney Tang whom incidentally, was also Gong Cha’s former franchise owner.
Later that month, Gong Cha’s parent company Unison Capital announced that it would make a comeback in Singapore.
When it opens on Friday, bubble tea fans will able to get their hands on cups of Gong Cha’s familiar flavours as well as new ones such as Sweet Potato Milk Tea, Matcha with Red Bean and Brown Sugar Oolong.
