Several people are dead after a massive fire ripped through a residential tower block on London early Wednesday morning.

Pictures from the incident show flames and smoke billowing from a 27-storey building while firefighters attempt to tackle the blaze.

The massive fire was reported at around 1:29 a.m. local time in London.

The fire has led to a “number of fatalities,” according to the London Fire Brigade.

The fire began on the second floor of Grenfell Tower, a 27-storey block of flats in Kensington, and quickly spread to the rest of the building.
