Singapore Airlines (SIA) and SilkAir customers will soon be able to travel on single-ticket itineraries to codeshare destinations served exclusively by Scoot.

Under a new codeshare agreement, travellers flying on SIA and SilkAir flights will have access to more than 30 Scoot-only destinations.

In a statement, SIA said it would progressively add its ‘SQ’ designator code while SilkAir will add its ‘MI’ code to Scoot-operated flights between Singapore and these 30 destinations.

This means that SIA and SilkAir customers will now have access to more than 130 destinations across the SIA Group network.

The codeshare arrangements will begin with Scoot flights serving Athens, Clark, Gold Coast, Hat Yai, Ipoh, Krabi, Kuching and Palembang.

Passengers on these routes will be issued boarding passes and baggage tags to their final destination at the first point of check-in.

These customers will be offered Scoot’s FlyBagEat privileges, which include checked baggage allowance, complimentary meal and beverage as well as blanket for flights above four hours. The amount of baggage allowance will depend on the most significant carrier for the through-checked portion of the journey, SIA said.

For a fee, they can also select seats on Scoot flights through the SIA and SilkAir websites when booking their tickets.

SIA said that codeshare flights are subject to regulatory approvals and tickets will be progressively made available through the various booking channels.
