From December, Marina Bay will be transformed into what’s touted as “Singapore’s biggest carnival” taking up 25,000 sqm, or roughly the size of 3.5 football fields, in The Promontory and Bayfront Event Space.
The Prudential Marina Bay Carnival which will be held from Dec 8 till April 1 next year, boasts 40 rides and games, many of which have been brought in for the first time from European cities including the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy, said a statement.
Among them is the Star Flyer, which is a tower ride that will give visitors an uninhibited 360-degree view of Singapore’s skyline from a height of 35m while experiencing a flying sensation.
Families can also look forward to a ride called the Log Flume which takes visitors on a ride with gentle turns before climaxing in a big splash.
There will be more than 40 carnival game stalls, which has been called Singapore’s “largest-ever collection”, with 1.2 million licensed plush toys up for grabs. The rides and games will cost between $4 to $10.
A wide range of performances have also been lined up with bands, DJs and even ventriloquist acts and carolling groups (probably only in December). Homegrown acts such as Falling Feathers, Kexin Tay, TheLionCityBoy and Jasmine Sokko will also take to the stage.
Oh, and there’s food too in the form of all the typical fairground favourites like curly fries, sausages, and popcorn.
There will also be more than 20 curated food vendors selling a wide range of culinary delights such as Michelin-starred offerings and Japanese treats to even local food – and dishes start from as low as $4.
The carnival is sponsored by insurance firm Prudential Singapore. Admission is free and credits for rides and games can be bought on-site and online.
