Tucked away in Western Australia’s Kimberley region, Broome may be the perfect holiday destination for you if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of life in Singapore.

And you may soon be able to get there direct from Singapore if all goes well with a series of trial flights planned.

SilkAir will run four return flights to Broome from mid-2018, using a Boeing 737 aircraft which can carry 150 economy and 12 business class passengers.

This new flight route will cut the travel time down to less than four hours, from more than 10.5 hours if travellers go through Perth Airport.

“While the current deal with SilkAir is for four return trial flights, we are hopeful that the demand for the service will be high and lead the way for further services in the future,” said Western Australia Tourism Minister Paul Papalia.

Details are kept under wraps for now but fares and flight schedules are due to be announced early next year, said a statement, with tickets available on SilkAir’s online reservation system.
