Three people were arrested Tuesday morning after the police seized a cache of loaded guns, knives, and bulletproof vests from their vehicle during a traffic stop in the Holland Tunnel, NBC 4 New York reported.
The two men in their 50s and a woman in her 20s were not connected to terrorism, two law-enforcement officials told NBC.
The suspects were driving a striking Dodge SUV that was painted bright green, red, and black and decked out in Tonka and Monster decals. Police stopped them on the New Jersey side of the tunnel after they were found to be driving with a cracked windshield.

Police said they found multiple handguns and long-range weapons as well as a camouflage helmet and what appeared to be night-vision goggles, NBC reported. Drugs were also recovered from the vehicle.
The suspects are “gun enthusiasts” from Pennsylvania who had been traveling to New York City, the police said, according to NBC. The New York Police Department’s counterterrorism chief tweeted that his department was monitoring the incident and that there was “no nexus to terrorism at this time.”
The Holland Tunnel is a major crossing that connects New Jersey and Manhattan.
