Saturday’s mega-fight between former five-weight world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and UFC superstar Conor McGregor is available to purchase on Sky Sports Box Office.
The event is priced at £19.95, but for fight fans confident that Mayweather will conquer McGregor and tally his 50th professional win, there is a way to win back the cost of the pay-per-view.
The US boxer is currently the 1/4 favourite to win, according to most British bookmakers. This means that for every £4 you bet on Mayweather, you get £1 back if he wins.
To get the full cost of the pay-per-view back, punters would have to bet £78.80 on Mayweather to win, to return a £19.95 in profit.
These gains may seem negligible but the unbeaten American’s odds are far more favourable now than when betting lines first opened.
This is because Mayweather was originally a 1/25 favourite. His odds have shortened considerably because so much money has been lumped on McGregor.
Betting aggregator Oddschecker said: “It is feasible Mayweather backers may just be biding their time to see how big the American’s odds will get before they pounce.”
Mayweather has never lost as a professional fight. He has dominated notable opponents like Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Ricky Hatton. McGregor, in contrast, is making his boxing debut.
