Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong announced on Thursday (Sept 6) that his authorised biography will be released in November.
In a Facebook post, he posted photos of him catching up with Hong Kong Chief Executives Tung Chee-hwa and Leung Chun-ying on his visit to Hong Kong.
He also posted a photo of him with Tung from the seventies, and he revealed that the photo will be seen in his biography.
The book will be written by Peh Shing Huei and there will be two volumes, as reported by The Straits Times.
The first will cover Goh’s early life and will end in 1990 when took office as Singapore’s prime minister.
The second book will largely cover Goh during his years as the successor to Lee Kuan Yew.
Mr Peh, who is a former journalist, said: “There hasn’t been a proper biography of Mr Goh Chok Tong, other than a few coffee table books. I think it’s long overdue.”
“My team and I have been working on it for more than a year. We asked ESM Goh hard questions and he gave candid answers, revealing some interesting details and anecdotes.
“I hope readers will gain some real insights.”
The response to the announcement has been positive so far, with social media users eager to read it:
