It’s official: Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander have tied the knot

You may recognise him as Magneto in the X-Men movie franchise and her, as Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider film set for release next year.

Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander officially tied the knot over the weekend in Ibiza, confirmed People, exchanging vows at the La Granja farmstead resort surrounded by family and friends.

They were spotted wearing wedding bands on Sunday in photos which appeared in the Daily Mail, with the couple dressed in casual wear.

The actors met on the set of their film The Light Between Oceans, in 2014, in which Vikander played Fassbender’s wife.

It was surely a sign of things to come, with rumours circulating afterwards that they were dating even though the couple kept mum about their relationship.

Swede Vikander, 29, is won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in her role as Gerda Wegener in The Danish Girl in 2015.

She also received critical acclaim for her role as Ava in Ex Machina, receiving a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture, as well as the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Irishman Fassbender, 40, made a splash in Hollywood as Magneto in X-Men: First Class and went on to appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past as well as X-Men: Apocalypse.

He earned his first Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for 2013’s 12 Years a Slave and starred in the Danny Boyle-directed biopic Steve Jobs in 2015.
