- Dude Foods
Have you ever wondered about deep-frying pizza or contemplated putting mac-and-cheese on a taco? Dude Foods is a blog that does it all.
The blog, founded by Nick Chipman in 2010, is an ode to some of the least healthy – but some of the most delicious – food in the world.
“The blog began because I would always just create crazy stuff at home and then just take pictures of it and send the photos to my friends or post them on Facebook and they seemed to get a kick out of the stuff I was making,” Chipman told Business Insider.
Here are Chipman’s 10 favorite concoctions of all time.
The Double Decker Mac & Cheese Stuffed Bacon Weave Taco
Want to win a sweet Meat Craft prize kit courtesy of @arbys? One lucky @dudefoods reader will win a a stainless steel smoker box, a personalized barbecue set that contains all the essential utensils needed for a successful barbecue, a jumbo BBQ spice set that includes ten different BBQ spice rubs and a bag of bacon infused sea salt! There will be four different ways to enter over the next two weeks and you can start today! For your first entry I want you to post a photo to either Instagram or Twitter — or both if you want an extra shot at winning — using the hashtag #MeatCrafterChallenge showing me your best Meat Craft creation. Here’s one of my most recent favorites — A bacon weave taco shell packed with roast beef, curly fries and Cheddar cheese sauce from Arby’s. Your entry doesn’t have to include meat from Arby’s like this one, but it DOES need to include some kind of meat, so Boca Burger and Tofurky fans need not apply! I’ll be announcing three more chances to enter over the next two weeks and you can follow along at DudeFoods.com #MeatCrafterChallenge #foodbeast #dudefoods
“The perfect DudeFoods post – or at least the ones that seem to get the biggest reaction – always involve either bacon or deep frying,” says Chipman.
The Racing Sausages Corn Dog
The Racing Sausages Corn Dog! My tribute to the Milwaukee @Brewers and the first thing I’ll add to my menu if I ever have a booth at the @wistatefair! For those of you that aren’t familiar with the racing sausages, in the middle of the 6th inning at every Milwaukee Brewers home game five people don sausage costumes — bratwurst, chorizo, hot dog, Italian sausage and Polish sausage — and race around the baseball diamond. Being a huge fan of corn dogs I always though it would be cool if a Racing Sausages Corn Dog existed, where instead the traditional hot dog on a stick dipped in batter there were portions of all five racing sausages instead. Well… now there is and I’m happy to tell you that it’s absolutely delicious! #Foodbeast #DudeFoods #Brewers #foodpornshare #ForkYeah #EATMUNCHIES
Today, Dude Foods receives more than 80,000 unique visitors per month, racking up more than 175,000 page views with creations like this corndog that combines bratwurst, chorizo, hot dog, Italian sausage and Polish sausage.
Macaroni and Cheese Crust Pizza
I’m never opposed to celebrating food holidays and since today is #NationalPizzaDay here’s a picture of a pepperoni pizza that I made a while back that has a deep dish crust made entirely from macaroni and cheese! Actually, I take back the part about celebrating all food holidays. You sure as hell won’t find me celebrating National Tofu Day or National Kale Day. In honor of those days I’ll probably just eat another Macaroni and Chesese Crust Pizza. #Foodbeast #DudeFoods
This creation was inspired by Chipman’s Sweet and Sour Chicken Pizza, made with a crust of deep-fried white rice.
“The inspiration for creations sort of just comes to me,” says Chipman. “After that it’s sort of just a weird stream of consciousness thing where whenever I’m making something four or five new ideas will spawn from that one thing. Also, if I’m being totally honest, a ton of my ideas just come to me after a long night of drinking.”
The Fruity Pebbles Ice Cream Cone
One of Chipman’s biggest discoveries while writing the blog was understanding his audience.
“I get just as many women that read it as men and it’s literally people from every age group that are reading it,” he says. “There are also a really crazy amount of weightlifters and bodybuilders that follow me for some reason, which seems a little weird, but who knows, maybe they’re just following me so they can see what NOT to eat or something.”
The Cocoa Pebbles Ice Cream Taco
After the success of Fruity Pebbles Ice Cream Cone, Post Foods sent Chipman some cereal – leading to the creation this sweet taco.
Deep Fried Eggs Benedict
Anyone who doesn’t realize the skill required in creating these concoctions only need to try and make the deep-fried eggs Benedict – a masterpiece in poaching and frying.
Deep Fried Cheese Crust Pizza
- Dude Foods
“Stuffed crust pizza is great and all, but the problem with it is that you have to eat through 85% of your crust before you get to the awesome part that’s stuffed with cheese,” writes Chipman. “Why not just make the entire crust stuffed with cheese?”
The Waffled Spaghetti Bun Burger
Let’s be honest with each other — throwing noodles or anything else in a waffle iron and using them for a bun isn’t anything new. This video was basically my excuse to buy chef hats for my dogs Finn and Holden and film them. I also tried to get them to rock fake Italian mustaches but they weren’t having any of it. Anyway, here’s an Italian sausage patty topped with mozzarella cheese, sauce and Parmesan between two waffled spaghetti noodle buns. #foodbeast #dudefoods #eatlikeshit #foodpornshare
A $10 waffle iron opened up a whole new world of options for recipes that Chipman could create.
The Deep Fried Scrambled Egg Bun Burger
I made a breakfast burger that puts all other breakfast burgers to shame. It has buns made from deep fried scrambled eggs and cheese and it’s topped with bacon, even more cheese and a fried egg because I like making a mess when I eat. Check out my Instagram post from yesterday for a short video of me making it, or head over to DudeFoods.com for the full rundown. #foodbeast #dudefoods #eatlikeshit #foodpornshare
The perfect breakfast burger is both topped with a fried egg and has a bun filled with scrambled eggs.
The Pabst Blue Reuben
@foodbeast emailed me a few weeks back asking if I had any crazy food ideas I could make using @pabstblueribbon beer. I was sitting around drinking at the time and replied “What if I took an entire Reuben sandwich, dipped it in Pabst beer batter and deep fried it? It could be called the Pabst Blue Reuben!” Well, they dug the idea and apparently so did Pabst so I got the go ahead to make it and here it is – The Pabst Blue Reuben! #Foodbeast #DudeFoods #sponsored
Chipman got the idea for this treat while drunk in Las Vegas.
“There have been tons of times where I’ve just had like ten whiskey and Cokes, wrote down a bunch of ideas I thought of for things I want to make and then totally forgot about it until the next morning when I woke up,” he says.
