Arya Stark may have been blinded on “Game of Thrones,” but Maisie Williams, the actress who plays the assassin-in-training on the hit HBO show, was able to watch last Sunday’s season premiere. She just needed to find the right party first.
A few hours before season six kicked off, the 19-year-old actress sent out a call on Twitter asking if any UCLA students were having a sweet viewing party.
Marcus Patternson, a graduate film student at UCLA, and his wife Katelyn Patterson, a second-grade teacher – heeded her call, and Williams set out to crash their party, documenting the night on Instagram.
Williams said that she “wanted to find some unsuspecting fans and surprise them with drinks and snacks before the premiere episode.”
Tons of fans responded to her tweet, but she chose the Pattersons’ party because the pictures they tweeted at Williams showed off an impressive spread of decorations and “Game of Thrones”-themed snacks, including “Littlefinger’s Fingers,” “Heads on Spikes,” and “Delicious Dornish Gold.””Everything you see is [Katelyn’s] doing,” Marc Patterson told INSIDER, “I did nothing except send a tweet.”

After deciding that the Pattersons were her lucky winners, Williams, along with a friend and an HBO rep, left her hotel an hour before the season premiere started.
She knew that Marc and Katelyn already had plenty of custom “Game of Thrones” snacks, but she still stopped to pick up more. “Who doesn’t love extra popcorn and crisps?” she wrote.
Snacks in hand, it was time to head to the couple’s apartment.
Like Arya Stark, Williams knew the importance of being stealthy.
The buzzer to the apartment was broken, so an excited Marc came down to let Williams in, and the 6’4″ film student embraced the 5’1″ actress. “She was really relatable,” he told INSIDER.
In an attempt to make the surprise as pure as possible, Marc re-entered the apartment first and told the rest of the guests that they had just won some free swag from HBO.
Swag is good, but meeting with one of the stars of the show is even better — even if she wouldn’t give away any spoilers about the upcoming episode.
Williams was impressed by all their decorations, including a poll asking if the partygoers thought that Jon Snow was alive or dead. She voted “dead,” but come on — there’s no way he won’t be coming back to life.
One of the snacks the Pattersons had made were gummi “Grey Worm’s Worms,” which is clever, but kind of gross when you remember that, as one of the Unsullied, Grey Worm is a eunuch.
After taking plenty of pictures with the six partygoers, they all re-watched the end of the season five finale. Williams left just before the premiere started, saying she’d already seen it.
(11/12) They were catching up on the last episode of Season 5 when I went in, and we all giggled nervously as we took pictures during the famous “shame” scene. I had the most amazing time, everyone was so welcoming and excited… Thanks to Mark, Kate and company for having us in your lovely flat. Enjoy the rest of Season 6.
“Thanks for the dragon egg cookies,” Williams wrote on Instagram after she left. “They were THA BOMB.” There were enough leftover for Katelyn to have a Monday afternoon snack, according to Twitter.
Katelyn Patterson shared the recipe with INSIDER, in case you’d like to make a batch of your own.
