Second-year outfielder Kevin Kiermaier has already established himself as one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball with numerous spectacular catches for the Tampa Bay Rays and a strong throwing arm to boot. But it wasn’t until Monday night that he had his first signature catch and it was a beauty.
Kiermaier leaped high over the center field wall at Baltimore’s Camden Yards to take a home run away from Manny Machado of the Orioles, holding on to the ball despite crashing into the wall.
The catch was reminiscent of a similar grab made by Mike Trout in the same ballpark three years ago. The catch by Trout is generally regarded as the best catch in recent memory.

The reaction by Rays pitcher Chris Archer was priceless.
The catch was captured in this fantastic photo by AP photographer Patrick Semansky.
