Miley Cyrus recently released a slew of promotional visuals for her new EP “She Is Coming,” and a popular Berkeley, California-based artist is accusing the singer of plagiarizing her work.

The controversial video in question features a hand seductively caressing various fruit, which was posted to Cyrus’ page on Tuesday.

Stephany Sarley, 30, has previously gone viral for making “food porn” videos where she simulates sensual acts with fruit, and she told BuzzFeed News that she thinks Cyrus is “carbon copying” her aesthetic.

Sarley’s work has been making its way around the internet since 2016, and people have been commenting on the seeming similarities in the comments section of Cyrus’ post.

“You can’t steal @stephanie_sarley’s art and claim it as your own!!!!” one user wrote while another added, “Your team and the creatives behind this video need to be held accountable for the blatant rip off of @stephanie_sarley’s work.”

Others came to the singer’s defense. Some said that the theme has “been a metaphor for years,” while others are saying “nothing is original” when it comes to art.

Sarley told BuzzFeed News that it was “jaw-dropping” to see the concept on Cyrus’ Instagram feed.

“It’s painful to see your actual art and expressions and concepts just completely plagiarized,” she told BuzzFeed News. “Just for money. For clout. It’s jaw-dropping. You think, ‘Why me?’ It makes you sick inside.”

Cyrus is also facing another potential plagiarism controversy

The performer was accused of copying a cake artist’s work in a promotional photo from her collaboration with Marc Jacobs in support of Planned Parenthood. In the image, she licks a cake that reads: “Abortion is Healthcare.”

Cake artist Becca Rea-Holloway pointed out that she shared an image of an identical cake she made in May 2018, calling Cyrus’ photo “a direct theft” of her work.

Cyrus noticed Rea-Holloway’s post and apologized for the lack of credit, writing: “Hi, we saw the image online and didn’t realize it was yours. We will absolutely tag you for your work.”

Sarley and representatives for Cyrus did not immediately respond to INSIDER’s request for comment.
