This year’s list is shorter than last year’s, when 156 people were named managing director.
About 29% of the new MD intake is female, according to one person familiar with the matter, the highest percentage on record. In 2016, 21% of the new MDs were women.
Morgan Stanley will report fourth-quarter earnings on January 17. President Colm Kelleher was more cautious than his peers about his predictions for the quarter in an interview with Bloomberg TV’s Erik Schatzker in mid-December
“Things are going fine,” Kelleher said after being asked about Morgan Stanley’s fourth-quarter performance in light of positive comments made by other bank executives. “I think there’s a bit of over-exuberance about how well people are doing.”
