Singapore singer and actor Aliff Aziz has admitted his mistake in going to a karaoke centre last Thursday (July 27) with a co-star which led to a scuffle between him and his wife, who had given birth to their first child recently.
His wife, Dayang Nabellah Awang Astillah, suffered minor injuries to her face and knees and sought treatment at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre before lodging a police report, according to The New Straits Times (NST).
Aliff, 26, who is based in Malaysia, was arrested early on Friday morning but was released on police bail on Saturday.
On Sunday, his wife, who is better known as Bella Astillah, withdrew the police report against Aliff, added the NST report.
In an interview with The Star’s Malay language portal mStar, Bella said that she does not intend to break up her marriage. The couple got married on Sept 9 last year.
It was reported that Bella, who has been in confinement after giving birth recently, had gone to the karaoke centre in Taman Shamelin in Kuala Lumpur, accompanied by her mother at about 4.30pm on Thursday to look for her husband.
An argument broke out when she discovered that he was with another woman in a karaoke room. The woman he had been with was his “Izinkan Aku Mencintaimu” co-star Afifah Nasir.
At a press conference on Monday (July 31), Aliff said: “I admit my mistake in going out with another woman and for hurting my wife. I was aware of what I was doing at the time of the incident.”
“I am man enough to admit this mistake and I do not want this to happen again. This will be the first and the last.”
He also openly apologised to his wife and her family for what happened.
