Late last year Vice President Joe Biden crossed the million-mile mark in his official plane, the Air Force Two. Whether it’s flying home to his own backyard in to Wilmington, Delaware or to Kosovo, the official Vice Presidential Photographer David Lienemann is there to capture most of Biden’s journeys.

Lienemann recently created a round up of his favorite images on Medium, celebrating the best images he’s captured of Biden traveling across the globe. “Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to capture every aspect of a given trip - from meetings on the plane to motorcades on the ground; from official bilateral meetings to behind-the-scenes local visits. Let’s just say the pace is never slow,” he wrote on Medium.

Ahead, 28 selects from Biden’s travels over the past seven years.

“Foreign visits are usually scripted affairs…In this…visit to Berlin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel walked…Biden onto the balcony outside her office. The two of them overlooked the Berlin skyline and talked alone for a few minutes without interpreters or staff before joining the rest of their delegations before the regular meeting began,” wrote Lienemann on Medium.

Lienemann explained that on some trips, Biden will switch from Air Force Two to a C-17 cargo plane. The Air Force pulls a modified Airstream trailer into the plane for the Vice President while most of the staff sit on seats along the side of the plane.
