LONDON – Boris Johnson has praised US President Donald Trump as a “great global brand” in an interview with Fox News on Thursday afternoon.
The UK Foreign Secretary lavished praise on Trump while on a visit the US where he is attempting to persuade the President not to abandon the Iran nuclear deal.
Speaking to right-wing news channel Fox News, Johnson said: “The American President is just one of the huge, great global brands, and he is penetrating corners of the global consciousness that I think few other presidents have ever done.”
The foreign secretary added that Trump’s early morning tweeting are an effective means of communication “no matter how rambunctious.”
“Yes a lot of people don’t like it and a lot of people relate to it. In an age when people have been turned off politics it’s more direct and it’s more communicative than a lot of previous presidents,” he said.

Johnson is under pressure back in the UK and has been called to step down from his ministerial role by MPs across the political spectrum.
His mistaken claim that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was in Iran to teach journalism when she was arrested in Tehran last year is being used against the imprisoned Brit as evidence as she faces another five years being added to her sentence.
The Fox News host ended the interview by heaping praise on the visting foreign secretary, saying: “Boris you were made for television – I like the way you turned in the middle, thought about things, you are just a great guest. Thanks so much for joining us.”
