Snakes on a Plane? No, it’s a snake on a train in Indonesia – and now the video’s gone viral

The 2006 action-thriller Snakes on a Plane may have been a thing of hair-raising fiction, and thank goodness for that.

But in Indonesia, some unlucky passengers on a commuter train serving the Bogor-Angke route came face-to-face with some real life slithery drama after a snake ended up on the ride with them.

A 30-second video of the incident went viral on social media on Tuesday (Nov 21) evening after it was posted on Instagram by @JktInfo. It had been viewed more than 156,000 times at the time of writing.

In the clip, the snake is first seen in the luggage rack of a cabin before a male passenger valiantly grabs it with his bare hands before slamming it against the floor and giving it a kick out the open door of the train which had pulled into a station.

In a Jakarta Post report, spokesman for train operator PT KAI Commuter Jabodetabek Ms Eva Chairunisa apologised for the incident, saying that the snake reportedly belonged to a passenger.
