Hello! Here’s what’s happening on Friday.

1. US President Donald Trump arrived in Vietnam for the APEC conference. The Kremlin said Trump is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but the White House has not yet confirmed this.

2. The US State Department’s top North Korean official said the US has created a plan for peace with North Korea. The official said the US would resume direct dialogue with Pyongyang if it ceased missile tests for 60 days.

3. Syria’s army said it defeated ISIS.The Syrian army said its capture of the last jihadist-run town marked the collapse of ISIS’ reign in the region.

4. Penny Mordaunt is the new appointee to the British cabinet. Priti Patel resigned on Wednesday after it emerged that she had taken part in unauthorized meetings with members of the Israeli government.

5. Trump has defended Chinese President Xi Jinping’s economic policies. Trump, who had previously been critical of China, said on Twitter that China had “taken advantage of people who had no clue” and he would have done the same.

6. The Spanish Supreme Court freed several Catalan lawmakers on bail. Eight former members of the Catalan government and leaders of two pro-independence groups remain in custody awaiting trial on charges of rebellion and sedition.

7. France’s President flew to Saudi Arabia last-minute amid critical tensions between the kingdom and Lebanon. His surprise trip follows the mysterious resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri earlier this week.

8. The US sanctioned 10 more Venezuelan officials, including several government ministers, for corruption. The US also sanctioned Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro in July.

9. A far-right German party called for the repatriation of half a million Syrian refugees. The group’s statement follows the Syrian army announcing they had defeated ISIS in their region.

10. The Delhi government has introduced emergency measures to combat heavy pollution. Severe pollution has led the city to completely ban trucks entering the capital and temporarily suspend all civil construction projects.
